Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for program managers?
Several large Illinois-based employers have consistent records of sponsoring program managers for work visas, including Motorola Solutions, Abbott Laboratories, United Airlines, Caterpillar, Baxter International, and CDW. Major consulting firms and tech companies with Chicago offices, such as Accenture and Boeing, also sponsor regularly. Sponsorship activity tends to be strongest at enterprise-scale employers with dedicated HR and immigration infrastructure.
What visa types are most commonly used for program manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for program managers in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, engineering, or computer science. Some candidates also enter through L-1B or L-1A intracompany transfers if they are relocating from a foreign affiliate. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management roles.
How to find program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by role and state to see program manager positions in Illinois where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings. Migrate Mate focuses on roles relevant to international candidates, so the results are more targeted than general job searches for program manager openings in Illinois.
Which cities in Illinois have the most program manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, including Schaumburg, Deerfield, and Downers Grove, account for the large majority of program manager sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. Schaumburg is notable as the headquarters of Motorola Solutions. Peoria sees demand from Caterpillar and related industrial suppliers. Outside these hubs, program manager sponsorship activity drops off significantly, making proximity to Chicago the strongest predictor of opportunity.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B workers for program manager roles must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific job location and level. Chicago's dense concentration of Fortune 500 companies and Big Ten university alumni networks, particularly from University of Illinois and Northwestern, creates strong pipelines for international candidates. Healthcare and manufacturing are especially active sectors in Illinois for program manager hiring and sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
