Which transportation companies sponsor TN visas in Illinois?
Illinois-based transportation employers with a track record of hiring TN visa holders include Union Pacific Railroad, United Airlines, American Airlines (O'Hare operations), C.H. Robinson, and Echo Global Logistics. Large freight and third-party logistics firms headquartered in the Chicago metro area regularly sponsor TN visas for roles in engineering, systems analysis, and logistics management that meet USMCA specialty occupation requirements.
Which cities in Illinois have the most transportation TN sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of transportation TN sponsorship jobs in Illinois, driven by O'Hare International Airport, major rail hubs, and a dense concentration of freight and logistics companies. Suburbs like Rosemont, Oak Brook, and Lombard host logistics firm headquarters. Rockford, home to Chicago Rockford International Airport, is a secondary market with cargo and freight operations.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN visa eligibility in transportation is tied to USMCA's defined occupational categories. Roles that commonly qualify include transportation engineers, civil engineers working on infrastructure projects, industrial engineers in logistics and supply chain operations, computer systems analysts in fleet management or routing software, and management consultants in freight operations. Roles requiring only a vocational certificate rather than a bachelor's degree generally do not qualify.
How do I find transportation TN sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa holders and lists transportation jobs in Illinois where employers are open to sponsorship. You can filter by visa type and state to see roles in logistics, engineering, and supply chain management across the Chicago metro and beyond. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on visa-sponsoring employers, which saves time compared to sorting through postings that don't address immigration support.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in transportation?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level requirements on TN visa employment, but the concentration of unionized transportation work in Chicago is worth noting. Some union-represented roles at railroads or airports may have hiring rules that affect how and when employers extend offers to international candidates. Professionals should also be aware that Illinois transportation infrastructure projects often involve federal contracts, which can affect prevailing wage documentation requirements for certain roles.
