Which companies sponsor visas for medical doctors in Indiana?
Indiana University Health is the state's largest health system and a consistent H-1B sponsor for physicians. Eskenazi Health, Franciscan Health, Parkview Health, and Community Health Network also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for medical doctor roles. Academic medical centers affiliated with Indiana University School of Medicine sponsor both H-1B and J-1 physicians across specialties.
Which visa types are most common for medical doctor roles in Indiana?
The J-1 exchange visitor visa is widely used for physicians completing residency and fellowship training at Indiana teaching hospitals, though it typically carries a two-year home residency requirement. The H-1B is the primary work visa for attending physicians once training is complete. Some employers in underserved areas support J-1 waiver applications through Indiana's Conrad 30 program, allowing physicians to remain in the U.S. by committing to work in a designated shortage area.
Which cities in Indiana have the most medical doctor sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the highest volume of physician sponsorship opportunities, driven by IU Health's flagship campus, Eskenazi Health, and several large specialty practices. Fort Wayne is a secondary hub anchored by Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network. South Bend, Evansville, and Muncie also have active physician hiring, particularly for primary care and psychiatry roles addressing local provider shortages.
How to find medical doctor visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate lists medical doctor roles in Indiana filtered specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship. You can browse current openings across Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and other Indiana cities, with filters for specialty and employer type. Migrate Mate's job board is built around H-1B and J-1 sponsorship visibility, making it more targeted than general job search tools for physicians navigating work authorization requirements.
Are there state-specific considerations for medical doctors seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allows qualifying physicians to obtain a waiver of the two-year home residency requirement by practicing in a Health Professional Shortage Area or Medically Underserved Area for at least three years. The Indiana State Department of Health administers the state's Conrad 30 slots. Physicians pursuing this path should confirm current slot availability and employer eligibility early in the process, as annual allocations are limited.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical doctor jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
