Which companies sponsor visas for nurses in Indiana?
Indiana's largest visa-sponsoring nursing employers include IU Health, the state's largest health system with hospitals across Indianapolis and central Indiana, Ascension St. Vincent, Franciscan Health, Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, and Community Health Network. These systems regularly recruit internationally trained nurses for RN, ICU, emergency, and med-surg roles, and have established HR processes for H-1B visa and EB-3 sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for nursing roles in Indiana?
Most internationally trained nurses in Indiana are sponsored through EB-3 immigrant visa petitions, which provide a permanent residency pathway and suit the nursing shortage well. Some advanced practice registered nurses in specialty roles may qualify for H-1B classification. Nurses already in the U.S. on TN visa or H-1B status sometimes transition to EB-3 sponsorship once they secure a permanent offer from an Indiana employer.
Which cities in Indiana have the most nursing sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis has the highest concentration of sponsored nursing roles, driven by IU Health Methodist Hospital, Community Health Network, and Ascension St. Vincent. Fort Wayne is the second-largest market, anchored by Parkview Regional Medical Center and Lutheran Health Network. South Bend, Evansville, and Muncie also have active hiring at regional hospital systems, particularly for med-surg, telemetry, and long-term care positions.
How to find nursing visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international nurses seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly by state to find Indiana-based nursing roles where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time compared to sorting through general job postings where sponsorship availability is often unclear. Creating a profile also helps match you with RN and specialty nursing openings across Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and beyond.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for nurses seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana requires all practicing nurses to hold a valid Indiana nursing license or a multistate Compact license recognized by the state. International nurses must have their foreign credentials evaluated through a CGFNS or equivalent credential assessment before applying for licensure. Indiana participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can simplify transitions for nurses already licensed in another Compact state. Employers typically require NCLEX passage and active licensure before sponsorship paperwork begins.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
