Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based employers are the most active sponsors for product software engineer roles in Indiana. Salesforce has a significant Indianapolis presence and a well-documented H-1B sponsorship history. Eli Lilly, Cummins, and Genesys also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for software engineering positions. Smaller healthtech and fintech startups in the Indianapolis area have also pursued sponsorship, though less consistently than established enterprises.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for product software engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some candidates at larger multinationals may also qualify for L-1B intracompany transfers if they're relocating from an overseas office. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying software roles.
Which cities in Indiana have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of product software engineer sponsorship activity in Indiana. It's home to the state's largest tech employers and a growing startup ecosystem. Bloomington and West Lafayette see some activity tied to Indiana University and Purdue University, where companies occasionally hire graduating international students into sponsored roles. Outside of Indianapolis, sponsored product engineering positions are relatively uncommon.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse product software engineer roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform is built for international candidates navigating the H-1B process, making it easier to identify Indianapolis-area employers, Purdue and IU recruiting pipelines, and companies with a track record of sponsoring product engineering hires in Indiana.
What should product software engineers know about Indiana's job market before pursuing sponsorship?
Indiana's cost of living is lower than coastal tech hubs, which affects prevailing wage calculations under Department of Labor guidelines. Employers must certify they're paying the prevailing wage for the role's location, so Indianapolis wages will differ from what the same title commands in San Francisco or New York. Purdue's strong computer science program creates a steady supply of OPT candidates, meaning some Indiana employers are already familiar with the sponsorship process before you approach them.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
