Which companies sponsor visas for product engineers in Iowa?
John Deere, Collins Aerospace, Rockwell Collins, Principal Financial Group, and Corteva Agriscience are among the Iowa employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for product and engineering roles. Manufacturing and agtech companies in the state have consistently filed Labor Condition Applications for product engineers, particularly in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities region.
Which visa types are most common for product engineer roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product engineers in Iowa, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a closely related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension may also work for Iowa employers before transitioning to H-1B status through employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Iowa have the most product engineer sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines leads for product engineer sponsorship activity, driven by its financial technology and insurance sector employers. Cedar Rapids is a strong second, anchored by Collins Aerospace and several advanced manufacturing firms. Iowa City benefits from proximity to the University of Iowa, which creates a pipeline of technical talent and attracts employers willing to sponsor visas for product-focused engineering roles.
How to find product engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse product engineer roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from Iowa manufacturers, agtech firms, and financial technology companies that have active sponsorship programs, saving time compared to manually checking each employer's immigration history.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product engineers seeking sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's manufacturing and agricultural technology sectors mean product engineer roles here often require domain knowledge in industrial systems, precision equipment, or enterprise software, which shapes how employers define specialty occupation for LCA purposes. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into sponsored roles with local employers, and that university-to-industry pipeline is worth factoring into your job search timing.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineer jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
