Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for product engineers?
Several large Ohio employers have established track records of sponsoring work visas for product engineers. These include Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Honda's North American engineering operations in Marysville, and various automotive tier-1 suppliers concentrated in the Toledo and Dayton corridors. Larger manufacturers and technology firms are generally better positioned to manage sponsorship than smaller companies.
What visa types are most common for product engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa category for product engineers in Ohio, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and those from Canada or Mexico may be eligible for TN status under the USMCA, which covers engineers without requiring a separate petition approval period.
Which Ohio cities have the most product engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus sees the highest concentration of product engineering sponsorship activity, driven by its technology, defense research, and consumer goods sectors. Cincinnati is another strong market, particularly for chemical, consumer product, and manufacturing engineering roles. Dayton attracts candidates with aerospace and defense backgrounds, while Toledo and the surrounding region supports automotive product engineering positions tied to supplier networks.
How to find product engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, so you can search product engineer positions in Ohio without sorting through irrelevant postings. The platform is designed for international candidates and surfaces roles across Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo. Filtering by state and job title on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify active product engineer sponsorship opportunities in Ohio.
Are there any Ohio-specific factors product engineers should know about sponsorship?
Ohio's manufacturing and engineering sectors are concentrated in mid-sized metro areas rather than a single tech hub, which means sponsorship activity is spread across multiple cities and industries. The state's strong university pipeline, including Ohio State, University of Cincinnati, and Case Western Reserve, means many employers are already familiar with OPT and H-1B processes through new graduate hiring. Product engineers with backgrounds in automotive, aerospace, or consumer goods will find the most active sponsorship markets in Ohio.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
