Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for solutions architects?
Des Moines-based employers are the most active sponsors for solutions architect roles in Iowa. Principal Financial Group, Nationwide, Wells Fargo, and John Deere have established records of H-1B sponsorship for technology positions. Iowa's large insurance carriers and financial services firms regularly hire solutions architects to manage enterprise systems, cloud migrations, and vendor integrations, making them the most reliable sponsoring employers in the state.
Which visa types are most common for solutions architect roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa category for solutions architects in Iowa, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Some candidates working with multinational employers enter on L-1B intracompany transferee visas. Employers sponsoring solutions architects may also support green card filings through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based preference categories.
Which cities in Iowa have the most solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the large majority of solutions architect sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and enterprise technology employers. Cedar Rapids has a secondary market, with companies in manufacturing, logistics, and regional banking hiring for architecture roles. Iowa City sees occasional demand tied to healthcare IT, particularly through University of Iowa Health Care and affiliated technology vendors.
How to find solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for solutions architect roles in Iowa. You can filter by state and role to surface employers in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids who have sponsored H-1B petitions for technology positions. Because Iowa's sponsoring employer pool is more concentrated than coastal markets, targeting the financial services and insurance sector on Migrate Mate will give you the most relevant results.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for solutions architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage determinations for solutions architects are set at lower levels than major coastal metro areas, which can affect the wage an employer must certify on a Labor Condition Application. This generally makes it easier for Iowa employers to meet DOL wage requirements without overextending compensation budgets. Iowa State University and the University of Iowa also produce a steady pipeline of technology graduates, so employers in the state are reasonably familiar with OPT and H-1B sponsorship processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solutions architect jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
