-
Lead and mentor engineering teams by working side-by-side to help develop robust solutions and providing guidance on best practices for processing, storing, and accessing data in the cloud.
-
Define and implement migration strategies to modernize existing data-centric solutions in the cloud, coaching teams through the transformation process.
-
Ensure alignment to established standards, principles, patterns, guidelines, security and processes critical for successful cloud adoption and proper governance.
-
Partner with Data and AI architects to influence architectural patterns and best practices, and actively apply them in solution design.
-
Translate business requirements into technical solutions, collaborating closely with product owners and managers to ensure successful implementation throughout the product lifecycle.
-
Develop future state roadmaps for products and technologies that align with and enable business objectives, ensuring a clear vision for data evolution.
-
Evaluate and strategically integrate emerging technologies for data management, storage, analytics, and related tools, contributing to future-state architectural decisions.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear architectural documentation and effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including engineers, managers, and project stakeholders.
Educational background: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field and 8+ years of relatable IT experience. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Which visa types are most common for solutions architect roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for solutions architects in Utah, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related engineering field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or O-1 visa extraordinary ability visas may also find pathways, depending on their employer relationship and professional record.
Which cities in Utah have the most solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the Lehi-Draper corridor, commonly called Silicon Slopes, account for the large majority of solutions architect openings in Utah. Provo and Orem also have meaningful activity given the proximity to Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. How to find solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?

Are there state-specific considerations for solutions architects pursuing sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's tech sector is heavily concentrated around the Silicon Slopes ecosystem, and many employers there are growth-stage companies that may have less established H-1B sponsorship infrastructure than large multinationals. Graduates from the University of Utah's computing programs are a common local talent pipeline, which can increase competition for sponsorship slots at mid-size firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solutions architect jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
