Which investment management companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Kansas?
Kansas-based firms with documented F-1 OPT hiring activity include Security Benefit Group in Topeka, Waddell & Reed and Tortoise Capital Advisors in the Kansas City metro, and Ivy Investments in Overland Park. Larger financial services employers in the greater Kansas City area also hire OPT students for analyst and operations roles. Sponsorship availability varies by role, headcount, and current business needs, so confirm directly with each employer.
Which cities in Kansas have the most investment management F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro area account for the majority of investment management OPT sponsorship activity in Kansas, given the concentration of asset management firms, financial services companies, and regional bank trust departments there. Topeka has a smaller but active presence, anchored by Security Benefit Group. Wichita offers limited opportunities in investment management specifically, though some wealth advisory firms hire OPT students in supporting roles.
How do I find investment management F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate lets you filter investment management jobs in Kansas that are open to F-1 OPT candidates, using verified DOL Labor Condition Application data to surface employers with active sponsorship histories in this sector. This is more reliable than filtering by job title alone, since many postings don't specify visa support upfront. Set your filters to Kansas, investment and asset management, and F-1 OPT to see current openings from employers who have sponsored similar roles.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Kansas?
Roles that most commonly qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Kansas investment management include investment analyst, portfolio analyst, quantitative research associate, fund accountant, and compliance analyst positions. These roles typically require a directly related bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or mathematics. Roles in trading operations and risk analysis also qualify at firms with established sponsorship programs. General administrative or sales-support roles are less frequently sponsored.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in investment management?
Kansas does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal OPT rules, but the investment management sector here skews toward mid-size and regional firms rather than large national asset managers, which means sponsorship decisions are often made on a case-by-case basis rather than through standardized HR programs. Students pursuing STEM OPT extensions should verify whether their specific role and employer qualify under STEM-designated degree categories, which typically include finance and applied mathematics programs at Kansas universities.
