Which companies sponsor visas for product engineers in Kansas?
Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita are among the most active sponsors for product engineers in Kansas, given the state's deep aerospace manufacturing base. Koch Industries and its subsidiaries, headquartered in Wichita, also sponsor engineers across industrial and technology product roles. In the Kansas City metro, companies in logistics technology and healthcare IT have sponsored product engineering positions through H-1B visa and other work visas.
Which visa types are most common for product engineers in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product engineers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA, which has no annual cap and can be faster to obtain. Australian citizens should consider the E-3 visa, which also has no lottery and allows two-year renewable status.
Which cities in Kansas have the most product engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wichita accounts for the largest share of product engineer sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by its aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries. Overland Park, part of the Kansas City metro, is the second most active area, with product engineering roles at technology and financial services companies. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, occasionally has openings tied to research commercialization and tech startups, though volume is lower than Wichita or Overland Park.
How to find product engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find product engineer roles in Kansas without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to surface openings at aerospace manufacturers in Wichita, technology companies in Overland Park, and other Kansas employers. Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have an established sponsorship history, which is especially useful when targeting a state with a concentrated industry base like Kansas.
Are there any state-specific factors product engineers should know about Kansas sponsorship hiring?
Kansas product engineer hiring is heavily influenced by the aerospace supply chain centered in Wichita, so candidates with backgrounds in mechanical, systems, or manufacturing engineering tend to be most competitive for sponsored roles there. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce engineering graduates that some employers hire and sponsor directly, creating pipelines that international candidates can also enter. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions apply regardless of state, and Kansas engineering wages are benchmarked against DOL wage data for the specific occupation and metropolitan area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
