Search Technical Program Manager Jobs in KansasTechnical Program Manager Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Kansas sponsor visas for technical program managers?
Garmin, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner), and T-Mobile's Kansas operations are among the most active H-1B sponsors for technical program manager roles in the state. Aerospace and defense contractors such as Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita also periodically sponsor TPM positions. Sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, business need, and timing, so availability varies by employer and year.
Which visa types are most common for technical program manager roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical program managers in Kansas, as TPM roles generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. L-1A and L-1B transfers are also used when candidates are relocating from an overseas office of the same company. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role meets the engineer or computer systems analyst classification.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technical program manager sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and Kansas City (Kansas side) account for the majority of TPM sponsorship activity in the state, driven by the concentration of technology, healthcare IT, and telecommunications employers in the I-435 corridor. Wichita is a secondary market with sponsorship opportunities in aerospace and manufacturing technology. Lawrence and Manhattan have limited TPM roles but occasionally see positions tied to university-adjacent research or government contracting.
How to find technical program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters technical program manager roles by visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on Kansas employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor. Use Migrate Mate to browse active TPM openings in Overland Park, Kansas City, and Wichita, and filter by employers with prior H-1B filings in the technology and healthcare IT sectors.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for technical program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Kansas's tech hiring is heavily tied to a few anchor industries: telecommunications, healthcare IT, and aerospace. University of Kansas and Kansas State University supply local engineering talent, which can make sponsorship more competitive for TPM roles that don't require highly specialized expertise. Prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program mean employers must pay the Department of Labor's designated wage level for the Overland Park or Wichita metropolitan area, which differs from national figures.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical program manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
