Which agriculture companies sponsor visas in Kentucky?
Major Kentucky agriculture employers sponsoring visas include Tyson Foods for food processing roles, Alltech for animal nutrition specialists, Kentucky Fried Chicken headquarters for agricultural supply chain management, and numerous thoroughbred farms in the Bluegrass region seeking veterinarians and breeding specialists. Bourbon distilleries like Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace also sponsor agricultural scientists and quality control specialists.

The platform shows verified sponsorship opportunities at farms, food processors, distilleries, and agricultural research facilities throughout the state. You can filter by specific agriculture subsectors like livestock, crop production, or food manufacturing to match your expertise.
Which visa types are most common for agriculture roles in Kentucky?
H-2A visas dominate seasonal agricultural work on Kentucky farms, particularly for tobacco harvesting and thoroughbred operations. H-1B visas are common for specialized roles like agricultural engineers, food scientists at processing facilities, and veterinarians at horse farms. TN visas serve agricultural professionals from Canada and Mexico, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to renowned equine specialists.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most agriculture sponsorship jobs?
Louisville leads with food processing giants and agricultural headquarters, followed by Lexington's concentration of thoroughbred farms and veterinary services. Bowling Green hosts significant agricultural manufacturing, while rural areas around Bardstown offer bourbon production opportunities. The Kentucky Bluegrass region provides the highest concentration of equine-related visa sponsorship positions.
What prevailing wage considerations affect Kentucky agriculture jobs?
Kentucky's agricultural prevailing wages vary significantly between urban processing facilities and rural farm operations. Louisville and Lexington command higher wages for agricultural professionals, while seasonal H-2A positions follow federal Adverse Effect Wage Rates. Specialized equine roles in the Bluegrass region often exceed standard agricultural wages due to the premium thoroughbred industry's unique skill requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored agriculture jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
