Green Mountain Forestry is seeking Engine Bosses, FFT1's and FFT2's. Work and sleep outdoors in hot, smokey conditions up to 14 days at a time. Support and take direction from overhead to fight wildfire.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment, hand tools, chainsaws, radios and fuels. Clean and care for equipment. Follow all safety procedures when using power equipment.
- Effective problem-solving skills, implement solutions, clearly identify issues and gather relevant data to make safe decisions.
- Communicate respectfully with all kinds of people. Take direction from others. Mentor others and direct crew with safety being first priority. Resolve disagreements. Use specific examples or explanations to communicate. Provide and accept feedback.
- Understand and follow State and Federal guidelines.
- Use maps, compass and GPS.
Experience
- Engine Boss experience requirements
- Operate type 6 engine
- Hold NWCG qualifications as ENGB
- Driver's license (preferred)
- FEMA is-100 IS 200 (preferred)
- Ability to complete required paperwork
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $34.83 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 112 per week
