Which visa types are most common for staffing roles in Oregon?
H-1B visas dominate staffing sponsorship in Oregon, particularly for specialized recruiting roles in tech, healthcare, and engineering. TN visas are common for Canadian and Mexican professionals in account management and business development roles. What prevailing wage considerations affect staffing jobs in Oregon?
Oregon's prevailing wages for H-1B sponsored staffing roles vary significantly between Portland metro and rural areas. Portland's competitive tech market drives higher prevailing wages for technical recruiting specialists, while healthcare staffing roles benefit from Oregon's strong medical sector presence. The state's lack of sales tax can make total compensation packages more attractive, and proximity to Washington's tech hub creates cross-border recruiting opportunities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored staffing jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
