Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Kentucky?
The most active sponsors for medical assistant roles in Kentucky tend to be large health systems, including Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health in Louisville, and UK HealthCare in Lexington. Federally Qualified Health Centers across the state also hire medical assistants and are experienced with work visa sponsorship due to their workforce diversity goals and federal funding structures.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most recognized pathway, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be challenging for some medical assistant positions unless the employer can document a degree requirement in a specific clinical field. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. International candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT status through a U.S. university are often more straightforward for Kentucky employers to hire.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Louisville is Kentucky's largest healthcare market, home to major hospital networks and multispecialty clinics that regularly hire medical assistants. Lexington is the second most active city, anchored by UK HealthCare and its affiliated outpatient facilities. Bowling Green and Owensboro have smaller but growing healthcare sectors as regional medical centers expand services across western and south-central Kentucky.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship jobs in the U.S., including medical assistant roles in Kentucky. You can filter by state and role to see current openings at Kentucky employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Focusing your search on large health systems and federally funded clinics in Louisville and Lexington will give you the strongest pipeline of sponsorship-open positions.
Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for medical assistants pursuing visa sponsorship?
Kentucky does not require medical assistants to hold a state license, which lowers one regulatory barrier compared to some other states. However, employers filing for H-1B sponsorship must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the role and location, and Kentucky's cost of living means prevailing wages are generally lower than in coastal markets. Candidates with a degree in medical assisting or a closely related clinical field are better positioned for roles that employers can credibly classify as specialty occupations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
