Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Arizona?
Arizona's largest healthcare employers are the most consistent sources of medical assistant visa sponsorship. Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the country, operates numerous facilities across the Phoenix metro. Dignity Health and Valleywise Health also hire medical assistants at scale. Smaller multispecialty clinics and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) occasionally sponsor as well, though large hospital systems have more established immigration infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Arizona?
Medical assistant roles in Arizona most commonly involve H-1B visa sponsorship when the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree, though this can be difficult to establish for the role. Employers sometimes pursue TN visas for Canadian or Mexican nationals in qualifying clinical roles. Some international candidates also enter through J-1 visa exchange visitor programs tied to clinical training, though work authorization rules differ significantly by visa category.
Which cities in Arizona have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its surrounding metro, including Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, and Chandler, concentrate the majority of Arizona's medical assistant hiring due to the density of hospital systems and outpatient clinics there. Tucson is the state's second-largest market, anchored by Banner University Medical Center and a growing network of specialty practices. Smaller cities like Flagstaff and Yuma have healthcare demand but considerably fewer sponsoring employers.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to connect international job seekers with employers willing to sponsor visas, including medical assistant roles in Arizona. Rather than sorting through thousands of listings manually, Migrate Mate filters by sponsorship history and role type, making it easier to identify Arizona healthcare employers that have sponsored similar positions. Focusing on large health systems in the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas improves your chances of finding relevant openings.
Are there state-specific considerations for medical assistants seeking sponsorship in Arizona?
Arizona does not require medical assistants to hold a state license, which simplifies hiring for employers but also means the role may face more scrutiny under H-1B specialty occupation standards. Arizona's proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border makes TN visa pathways relevant for Mexican and Canadian nationals in qualifying clinical roles. The state's strong medical school presence, including University of Arizona Health Sciences in Tucson and Phoenix, also generates clinical pipelines that some employers draw from when recruiting internationally trained staff.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
