Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Kansas?
The largest sponsoring employers for medical assistants in Kansas are typically major health systems. The University of Kansas Health System, Stormont Vance Health, Via Christi Health (part of Ascension), and Hutchinson Health are among the organizations with established HR infrastructure to support visa sponsorship. Larger hospital networks are generally better positioned to sponsor than smaller independent clinics, which often lack dedicated immigration compliance teams.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Kansas?
Medical assistant roles in Kansas most commonly involve H-1B sponsorship when the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a degree in a health sciences field. However, many medical assistant positions may not meet specialty occupation standards under USCIS guidelines, so eligibility depends heavily on the specific role requirements and employer documentation. Some internationally trained candidates also explore TN visa eligibility if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the applicable occupational criteria.
Which cities in Kansas have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is the largest market for medical assistant jobs in Kansas, anchored by Via Christi Health and Wesley Medical Center. Kansas City (Kansas side) is a close second, driven by The University of Kansas Health System and its affiliated clinics. Topeka, home to Stormont Vance Health and the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, also sees consistent hiring. Smaller cities like Manhattan and Lawrence have regional medical centers but significantly fewer sponsorship opportunities.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to Kansas. Unlike general job boards, Migrate Mate focuses on roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, which saves time when researching whether a specific Kansas health system or clinic is likely to support an H-1B or other work visa petition for a medical assistant position.
Are there any state-specific considerations for medical assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not require medical assistants to hold a state license, which simplifies credential verification for internationally trained applicants. However, employers still typically require a recognized certification such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT). The University of Kansas Medical Center also serves as a pipeline for international healthcare talent through its graduate and clinical programs, making the Kansas City metro area a practical starting point for those building a sponsorship pathway in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
