Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Washington?
Washington's largest health systems are the most active sponsors. UW Medicine, MultiCare Health System, Providence Health and Services, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and Seattle Children's Hospital have all filed for sponsored positions in clinical support roles. Federally qualified health centers serving rural and underserved communities in Washington also sponsor medical assistants, as they often face persistent staffing shortages that local hiring alone does not resolve.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Washington?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for medical assistants in Washington, but it requires the employer to demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree, which is not straightforward for this title. EB-3 immigrant visas are used more frequently for medical assistants because the category accommodates skilled and semi-skilled workers. Some positions are filled through J-1 visa exchange visitor programs at teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Washington.
Which cities in Washington have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Seattle has the highest concentration of medical assistant sponsorship opportunities in Washington, driven by the density of hospital networks, specialty clinics, and research institutions. Tacoma and Bellevue follow, supported by MultiCare and regional outpatient operations. Spokane, as the hub for eastern Washington's healthcare system, also sees steady demand. Rural areas served by critical access hospitals occasionally post sponsored roles due to ongoing workforce shortages.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship roles, including medical assistant positions in Washington. You can filter by state and role to see which Washington employers are actively sponsoring, rather than applying broadly and discovering sponsorship is unavailable. Given that not all medical assistant postings include sponsorship, using a focused platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time and surfaces relevant opportunities more efficiently.
Are there state-specific considerations for medical assistants pursuing sponsorship in Washington?
Washington requires medical assistants to hold a state credential issued through the Department of Health, and employers filing for sponsorship will expect candidates to meet or be eligible for this credentialing requirement. The state's prevailing wage obligations under federal visa programs mean sponsored positions must meet Department of Labor wage determinations for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue and Spokane metropolitan areas, which vary by experience level and practice setting. Candidates should verify their credentials meet Washington's standards before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
