Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Tennessee?
The largest sponsors of medical assistant roles in Tennessee are major health systems such as Vanderbilt University Medical Center, HCA Healthcare (which operates several Tennessee facilities), Baptist Memorial Health Care, and Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga. Larger hospital networks are generally more experienced with visa sponsorship processes than smaller independent clinics, making them the most practical starting point for international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Tennessee?
Medical assistant positions in Tennessee are most commonly sponsored under the H-1B visa, though this requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be harder to establish for general medical assistant positions than for more specialized clinical roles. Some internationally trained candidates also enter through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican nationals, provided their credential category meets TN requirements.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for medical assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of large health systems, hospitals, and outpatient facilities. Memphis is the second most active market, anchored by Baptist Memorial and Regional One Health. Knoxville and Chattanooga also have meaningful hiring activity through University of Tennessee Medical Center and Erlanger Health System respectively.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S., including medical assistant roles in Tennessee. You can filter directly by state and job category to surface employers actively open to sponsoring international hires. This is more targeted than general job searches, since Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-friendly postings rather than listing all available positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for medical assistants seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee does not require medical assistants to hold a state license, which means credential recognition is less of a barrier than in some other states. However, employers often prefer candidates who are certified through nationally recognized bodies such as the AAMA or AMT. International candidates should also confirm their clinical training credentials are recognized by the hiring employer, as requirements can vary between health systems.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
