Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, one of Delaware's largest health systems, and Nemours Children's Health are among the most active healthcare employers in the state filing H-1B visa and other work visa petitions. Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover also hires medical assistants. Sponsorship availability varies by role, facility, and staffing cycle, so confirming directly with each employer's HR or talent acquisition team is the best approach.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Delaware?
Medical assistants in Delaware are most commonly sponsored under the H-1B visa when the role requires a specialized degree, though classification as a specialty occupation can be difficult for generalist medical assistant positions. Some employers explore TN visas for Canadian or Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials. EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship appears in cases where employers face persistent staffing shortages and are willing to pursue a longer-term pathway.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search medical assistant openings in Delaware without sorting through postings that don't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role to surface employers in Wilmington, Dover, and Newark who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which saves significant time compared to reviewing general job postings individually.
Which cities in Delaware have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the largest share of medical assistant job activity in Delaware, driven by ChristianaCare's main campus and affiliated outpatient clinics. Newark, home to the University of Delaware medical facilities, and Dover, where Bayhealth Medical Center operates, represent the next most active markets. Most visa-sponsored medical assistant positions in the state are concentrated within this northern and central Delaware corridor.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for medical assistant visa sponsorship?
Delaware does not require a separate state license for medical assistants, which removes one credentialing barrier that exists in some other states. However, employers still look for nationally recognized certifications such as CMA or RMA when evaluating international candidates for sponsored roles. Delaware's small size means fewer total openings than neighboring Pennsylvania or New Jersey, so candidates should be prepared to consider roles across all three major metro areas the state serves.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
