Which companies sponsor visas for business development executives in Maryland?
Federal contractors and defense firms are among the most active sponsors for business development executives in Maryland. Companies like Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, and Northrop Grumman regularly hire senior business development talent and have established immigration programs. Life sciences firms along the I-270 corridor, including those in the biotech and medtech sectors, also sponsor for this role category.
Which visa types are most common for business development executive roles in Maryland?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for business development executives in Maryland, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with multinational employer backgrounds may qualify for an L-1A intracompany transfer. Individuals with extraordinary achievement in business development may explore the O-1A, though the evidentiary bar is high.
Which cities in Maryland have the most business development executive sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda and Rockville see the highest concentration of business development executive sponsorship activity, driven by the dense cluster of federal contractors and government-adjacent firms headquartered there. Baltimore adds a meaningful share, particularly through its healthcare, financial services, and defense sectors. Columbia and Gaithersburg also generate consistent demand, especially from life sciences and technology employers operating in those corridors.
How to find business development executive visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by state and role to surface business development executive positions in Maryland where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Because federal contracting and life sciences firms in Maryland hire for this role on a project-driven cycle, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you visibility into openings as they post rather than after they've filled.
Are there any Maryland-specific considerations for business development executives seeking visa sponsorship?
Maryland's concentration of federal contractors introduces a practical nuance: some business development roles require security clearances, which non-U.S. citizens cannot hold, narrowing the pool of sponsoring positions. Roles focused on commercial or international markets within these same firms are more accessible. The state's I-270 life sciences hub and the University of Maryland's technology commercialization ecosystem also produce employer pipelines less dependent on clearance requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development executive jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
