PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Energy Trading Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting compliance activities related to energy trading, ensuring adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The role involves monitoring trading and communication activities, implementing compliance programs, and providing analysis to mitigate regulatory risks. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, programming expertise, and a deep understanding of energy markets and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Monitor energy trading activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Generate reports and dashboards to track compliance performance and identify potential non-compliance risks.

Analyze trading data for patterns or behaviors that may indicate potential violations.

Trading Compliance:

Support adherence to FERC, CFTC, ERCOT, CAISO, PJM and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations.

Ensure compliance with internal policies, including position limits, trading authorizations, and market conduct guidelines.

Policy and Procedure Development:

Help design, update, and implement compliance policies and procedures for energy trading operations.

Assist in providing input on the development of training programs to promote compliance awareness among trading teams.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Conduct compliance risk assessments related to energy trading activities.

Proactively identify areas of vulnerability and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce regulatory risks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Law, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in energy trading compliance, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
- Experience with energy markets (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE) and relevant regulatory agencies (e.g., FERC, CFTC).
- Strong programming skills in VBA, C#, Python, R, SQL, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with database management systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Solid understanding of energy trading products, including futures, swaps, physical power, and natural gas.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex trading data and identify risks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory concepts to non-experts.
