Also known as "GSO", this team is the foundation of our efforts to keep TikTok safe, secure, and operating at scale for over 1 billion people around the world. We work to ensure that the TikTok platform is safe and secure, that our users' experience and their data remains safe from external or internal threats, and that we comply with global regulations wherever TikTok operates. Trust is one of TikTok's biggest initiatives, and security is integral to our success. In whatever ways users interact with us — whether they're watching videos on their For You page, interacting with a Live video, or buying products on TikTok Shop — GSO protects their data and privacy, so they can have a secure and trustworthy experience. The GSO provides industry-leading security and privacy services to the company, guided by four principles: trust and transparency, business enablement, risk-informed decision-making, and proactive risk reduction. We strive to build sustainable, world-class security capabilities. TikTok is seeking a Senior IT Compliance Analyst who plays a central role in maturing and standardizing the organization's IT control environment to support regulatory compliance obligations for online platforms. Working across the full control lifecycle — from scoping and discovery through assessment, testing, gap remediation, and external audit defense — this role partners with Global Legal/Compliance, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to ensure that in-scope systems and processes are governed by robust, testable, and continuously improving controls. The role spans three primary General IT Control (i.e., GITC) domains: Access Management, Change Management, and System Monitoring. It balances near-term audit readiness with the longer-term objective of building a sustainable, automated control environment that scales with business growth.
Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Governance
- Support the GITC strategy, audit readiness roadmap, and control maturity initiatives.
- Track remediation of control gaps, including ownership, status, target dates, and dependencies.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, scalability, and consistency across GITC processes.
- System Discovery & Scoping
- Support periodic system scoping activities to identify new, modified, and decommissioned in-scope systems.
-
Support cross-functional system discovery workshops to understand business processes and identify key systems.
-
Control Operations & Execution
- Support internal assessment, evidence gathering, and audit demonstration of Access Management, Change Management, and System Monitoring controls across in-scope systems.
- Support execution of periodic User Access Reviews to ensure inappropriate access is identified and revoked in a timely manner.
- Assist in enforcing Segregation of Duties requirements between change developers, approvers, and migrators.
-
Help formalize governance over in-scope alarms, including monitoring alarm changes, access to alert configurations, and timely alert handling.
-
Audit Readiness & Testing
- Support internal readiness reviews and mock audits across GITC domains.
- Extract, validate, and maintain testing populations for in-scope systems and control domains.
-
Prepare evidence and support testing activities for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
-
Gap Remediation & External Audit Support
- Facilitate, validate, and retest remediation activities to confirm audit readiness and timely closure of control gaps.
- Support external audit execution by coordinating evidence requests, auditor inquiries, walkthroughs, and follow-ups.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated working knowledge of General IT Controls across the three core domains:
- Access Management: access provisioning workflows, periodic access reviews, authentication mechanisms, privileged access management, role-based access control, and security classification frameworks.
- Change Management: SDLC controls, change approval workflows, segregation of duties in CI/CD environments, code repository governance, protected branch configurations, and emergency/minor change policy design.
- System Monitoring: alarm/alert management, SLA-based incident response, monitoring dashboards, alarm inventory governance, and configuration management for alerting systems.
- Ability to understand technical system architectures and read code repository configurations, CI/CD pipeline settings, and monitoring configurations. Understanding of data flow analysis techniques for complex, multi-system environments.
- Experience with system discovery, process flow mapping, control narrative/template development, and audit population extraction.
- Proven track record in successfully developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive compliance programs at scale with experience engaging directly with regulators, external auditors, or supervisory bodies.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to translate complex legal and technical concepts into clear, actionable advice for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, effectively manage multiple competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in IT audit, SOX/GITC controls, IT compliance, or information security assurance roles within a regulated industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., Digital Services Act (DSA), GDPR, Online Safety Act, etc.) or comparable digital platform regulation.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis.
- Industry experience in technology or social media.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, or CIPP/E.

Which companies sponsor visas for compliance analysts in California?
Financial institutions and technology firms account for a large share of compliance analyst sponsorships in California. Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and JPMorgan Chase regularly sponsor through their Bay Area and Los Angeles operations. Healthcare organizations including Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health also hire sponsored compliance analysts. Defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman sponsor compliance roles tied to regulatory and government contracting requirements in Southern California.
Which visa types are most common for compliance analyst roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for compliance analysts in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in finance, law, business, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Candidates already holding L-1B status through multinational employers occasionally transfer into compliance analyst positions. Some candidates on OPT or STEM OPT also enter compliance roles before their employer files an H-1B petition.
Which cities in California have the most compliance analyst sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and San Jose lead in compliance analyst sponsorships, largely due to the density of fintech companies, large banks, and regulated technology firms in the Bay Area. Los Angeles follows closely, with significant demand from entertainment industry compliance, financial services, and healthcare. Sacramento sees sponsorship activity concentrated in government-adjacent compliance roles, particularly in financial regulation and state-chartered financial institutions.
How to find compliance analyst visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for compliance analyst roles in California without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by location and role type to surface relevant openings across finance, healthcare, and technology sectors. Migrate Mate's database is updated regularly, so checking back frequently increases the chances of finding newly posted sponsored compliance analyst positions in California.
Are there any state-specific considerations for compliance analyst roles in California?
California's regulatory environment is among the most complex in the country, which directly shapes what employers look for in compliance analysts. Familiarity with California Consumer Privacy Act requirements, state financial regulations through the DFPI, and California-specific employment law is a genuine advantage when applying to California-based employers. University programs at UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC produce strong local pipelines, so sponsored candidates benefit from highlighting specialized compliance certifications or niche regulatory expertise.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored compliance analyst jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
