Which companies sponsor visas for home health nurses in Maryland?
Large health systems with established home care divisions are the most consistent sponsors. Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, University of Maryland Medical System, Amedisys, Bayada Home Health Care, and Visiting Nurse Service of Maryland have all sponsored international nursing staff. Staffing agencies with Maryland contracts also periodically sponsor home health nurses, particularly for positions in high-demand areas like Baltimore County and Montgomery County.
Which visa types are most common for home health nurse roles in Maryland?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained home health nurses, typically pursued through PERM labor certification filed by the employer. The H-1B is less frequently used for nursing roles because most home health nurse positions are classified under SOC codes that don't always meet specialty occupation requirements. Some nurses also enter through the TN visa if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, provided the role and credentials align with TN nursing eligibility.
Which cities in Maryland have the most home health nurse sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore and its surrounding counties, including Baltimore County and Harford County, see the highest volume of home health nurse postings in Maryland. Montgomery County and Prince George's County, which border Washington D.C., also have significant demand given their large and growing senior populations. Rockville and Silver Spring are active hiring areas within Montgomery County, where several regional home health agencies maintain their operations.
How to find home health nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to search home health nurse roles in Maryland without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can browse by state and role type to see which Maryland employers are actively sponsoring. Because sponsorship availability changes frequently, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you an up-to-date view of which home health agencies and health systems have open positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for home health nurses seeking sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland requires home health nurses to hold an active RN or LPN license from the Maryland Board of Nursing, and internationally trained nurses must have their credentials evaluated through a recognized credential evaluation service before licensure. Maryland participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can simplify multi-state practice once licensed. Employers filing PERM-based EB-3 petitions must demonstrate that prevailing wage requirements are met under the Standard Occupational Classification for home health aides and registered nurses, which vary by county within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored home health nurse jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
