Which companies sponsor visas for insurance collectors in Maryland?
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Kaiser Permanente's Mid-Atlantic operations, and GEICO have all filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for finance and collections-adjacent roles in Maryland. Larger national carriers with Maryland offices, including Cigna and Aetna, also have documented sponsorship histories. Smaller regional insurers sponsor less frequently, so targeting mid-to-large employers gives the strongest odds of finding active sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for insurance collector roles in Maryland?
H-1B is the most common visa for insurance collector positions when the role requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa in the accountant or economist category depending on exact job duties. Employers determine which category applies based on the specific role requirements, so the position's educational requirements matter significantly.
Which cities in Maryland have the most insurance collector sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore is the primary hub, home to major carriers and their collections departments. The DC-adjacent suburbs, particularly Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Rockville in Montgomery County, concentrate regional headquarters and administrative operations for national insurers. Annapolis, as the state capital, also has state-regulated insurance operations. Baltimore and Montgomery County together account for the majority of documented H-1B filings in Maryland's insurance sector.
How to find insurance collector visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, letting you search insurance collector roles in Maryland without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform aggregates openings from carriers and third-party administrators active in the Baltimore and DC-suburb markets. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify which Maryland employers are actively hiring and sponsoring.
Are there state-specific considerations for insurance collector visa sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage benchmarks that employers must meet when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application, and these figures reflect the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson metro area's cost of living. Maryland also has active insurance regulatory oversight, meaning employers in this sector tend to be well-established and more likely to have in-house HR familiar with sponsorship processes. Roles tied to Medicaid administration or state contracts may have additional compliance requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance collector jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
