Which companies sponsor visas for program coordinators in Maryland?
Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland system are among the most consistent sponsors for program coordinator roles in Maryland, particularly for academic and research programs. Large federal contractors including Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, and SAIC also sponsor coordinators supporting government-adjacent programs. Nonprofit organizations and major health systems like MedStar Health and University of Maryland Medical System round out the field.
Which visa types are most common for program coordinator roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program coordinators in Maryland, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as public health, education administration, or a related discipline. Universities and research institutions sometimes sponsor J-1 exchange visitor visas for coordinators in academic or research settings. Some roles may also qualify under the TN category for Canadian and Mexican nationals.
Which cities in Maryland have the most program coordinator sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore holds the largest concentration of program coordinator sponsorship opportunities in Maryland, driven by its university hospital systems, research institutions, and nonprofits. The suburbs of Montgomery County and Prince George's County, bordering Washington D.C., are also significant hubs due to federal contractors and international organizations headquartered in that corridor. College Park and Rockville see consistent demand, particularly in research and public health program coordination.
How to find program coordinator visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have demonstrated sponsorship willingness, making it a practical starting point for program coordinators targeting Maryland. You can narrow results by location, focusing on Baltimore, Rockville, and the D.C. corridor suburbs. Prioritizing employers such as universities, health systems, and established federal contractors on Migrate Mate tends to surface roles with more straightforward sponsorship histories.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for program coordinator sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's high density of federally funded programs means many program coordinator roles are tied to grants or government contracts, which can influence an employer's sponsorship capacity and timeline. Universities and health systems in Maryland are experienced H-1B sponsors with established HR processes. Because specialty occupation eligibility for coordinator titles can be scrutinized by USCIS, the job description's degree requirements and field specificity matter considerably when an employer files a petition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program coordinator jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
