Which companies sponsor visas for strategy directors in Maryland?
Federal contractors headquartered or operating in Maryland are among the most active sponsors for strategy director roles. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin have consistent histories of H-1B sponsorship for senior strategy positions. Outside defense, Johns Hopkins Health System, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and T. Rowe Price also sponsor strategy-level roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by year and role, so verifying current filings through DOL disclosure data is worthwhile.
Which visa types are most common for strategy director roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy directors in Maryland, classifying the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business, economics, or management. The O-1A is an alternative for candidates with demonstrated extraordinary achievement. Candidates already in the U.S. on L-1A intracompany transferee status who hold a managerial or executive role may also be positioned for this level.
How to find strategy director visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse strategy director roles in Maryland without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Search by job title and state to surface openings at federal contractors, healthcare systems, and financial services firms across the Baltimore-DC corridor. Filtering by sponsorship type also helps identify employers actively filing H-1B or O-1 petitions for director-level strategy hires.
Which cities in Maryland have the most strategy director sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County lead for strategy director sponsorship, driven by dense concentrations of federal contractors and healthcare organizations operating near the DC border. Baltimore is the second major hub, particularly for health system strategy roles tied to Johns Hopkins, UMMS, and other large medical institutions. Annapolis sees more limited activity, primarily from financial services and government-adjacent firms. The I-270 technology corridor between Rockville and Frederick also produces relevant openings.
Are there state-specific considerations for strategy director visa sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's high concentration of federal contractors introduces a practical consideration: many strategy director roles at these firms require security clearances, which are generally not available to foreign nationals without U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status. This narrows the pool of sponsoring employers meaningfully for international candidates. Roles within healthcare systems, financial services, and commercial consulting firms are less affected by clearance requirements and represent more accessible sponsorship pathways for strategy directors in Maryland.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy director jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
