Which automotive companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts hosts several automotive and mobility-focused employers that have historically taken on F-1 CPT students, including Mobileye's Boston office, Aptiv, Continental, and a number of autonomous vehicle and EV startups concentrated along the Route 128 technology corridor. University research centers affiliated with MIT and Northeastern also place students in CPT-eligible automotive engineering and data science roles.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most automotive F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston, Cambridge, and Waltham see the highest concentration of automotive CPT opportunities in Massachusetts, largely due to the density of technology campuses, university research partnerships, and mobility startups in those areas. Worcester and Burlington also have a modest presence of automotive engineering and software employers who have hired CPT students for internship and co-op terms.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Roles that are directly tied to an enrolled student's degree program are eligible for CPT, so positions in software engineering, electrical engineering, data analytics, mechanical engineering, and autonomous systems research are most commonly approved. Employers in Massachusetts frequently list these as internship or co-op titles within automotive technology, ADAS development, EV battery research, and mobility software teams.
How do I find automotive F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate lists automotive jobs in Massachusetts that are open to F-1 CPT students, filtering out roles where international student work authorization is not supported. You can search specifically by CPT eligibility and the automotive industry to surface internship and co-op postings from companies in the Boston area and Route 128 corridor that have a documented history of hiring international students.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in Massachusetts automotive roles?
Massachusetts universities typically require a job offer letter confirming the role is directly related to your major before authorizing CPT through your DSO. Many automotive employers in the state operate co-op programs structured around semester cycles, so timing your CPT authorization to align with your school's academic calendar and the employer's start date is important. Some roles at defense-adjacent automotive technology firms may also require U.S. citizenship, which limits CPT eligibility.
