Which companies in Massachusetts sponsor visas for technical program managers?
Large technology employers with significant Massachusetts operations are the most consistent sponsors for technical program manager roles. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and HubSpot have sponsored TPM positions in the Greater Boston area. Defense and aerospace contractors along the Route 128 corridor, including Raytheon Technologies and Draper, also hire TPMs and have established visa sponsorship infrastructure, though sponsorship decisions vary by role, team, and headcount.
Which visa types are most common for technical program manager roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for technical program managers in Massachusetts, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or O-1A visas based on extraordinary ability may also find pathways, depending on their background and employer situation.
How to find technical program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can search for technical program manager roles in Massachusetts without manually vetting each employer. The platform surfaces positions from companies that have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is particularly useful in a market like Boston where TPM openings are spread across tech, biotech, and defense sectors.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most technical program manager sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of technical program manager openings in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of technology companies, biotech firms, and university-affiliated research organizations in those areas. Waltham and Burlington, both on the Route 128 corridor, also generate consistent TPM demand from established tech and defense employers. Somerville and Marlborough appear with some frequency as well.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for technical program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B petitions for technical program managers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Boston metropolitan area, which reflects the region's relatively high cost of living. The state's deep university pipeline, including MIT, Harvard, and Northeastern, means employers are experienced with international hiring. TPM candidates with advanced degrees may benefit from the H-1B advanced degree exemption, which has a separate cap allocation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical program manager jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
