Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for customer program managers?
General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, and automotive supplier giants like Aptiv and BorgWarner have consistent track records of H-1B sponsorship for program management roles. Beyond automotive, companies such as Rocket Companies in Detroit and University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor also sponsor customer-facing program managers. Sponsorship availability varies by business unit and hiring cycle, so confirming with individual employers is advisable.
What visa types are most commonly used for customer program manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for customer program managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field, meeting specialty occupation standards. L-1B visas apply when a candidate transfers from a foreign office of the same company. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role qualifies under eligible USMCA professional categories.
Which Michigan cities have the most customer program manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its metro suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Southfield, account for the largest share of customer program manager sponsorship activity due to the automotive industry's concentration there. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub, driven by technology firms, life sciences companies, and University of Michigan-affiliated organizations. Grand Rapids has a smaller but growing presence, particularly within manufacturing and healthcare sectors.
How to find customer program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter customer program manager roles by state, so you can focus directly on Michigan employers actively sponsoring. Because automotive and manufacturing hiring in Michigan follows project cycles, checking Migrate Mate regularly and setting role-specific alerts helps you catch openings when they're posted rather than after they've filled.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for customer program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's automotive industry operates on supplier tiers, and customer program managers often sit at the interface between OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, which can influence how employers classify roles for H-1B purposes. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determination for this role in the Detroit metro area reflects the region's competitive professional market. Candidates from Michigan State University or University of Michigan pipelines are familiar to local employers, which can smooth initial sponsorship conversations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer program manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
