Which companies sponsor visas for data managers in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for data manager roles include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Healthcare systems like Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health also sponsor, as do tech-adjacent firms in the Ann Arbor corridor. Automotive suppliers such as Aptiv and Lear Corporation have filed H-1B visa petitions for data-focused roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for data manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data manager positions in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field like computer science, information systems, or data engineering. Candidates with a Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also qualify under the TN visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap.
Which cities in Michigan have the most data manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its immediate suburbs, including Dearborn, Troy, and Southfield, account for the largest share of data manager sponsorship activity in Michigan, driven by the automotive and insurance sectors. Ann Arbor is the second most active market, supported by the University of Michigan, healthcare systems, and a growing technology employer base. Grand Rapids has a smaller but emerging presence in healthcare data roles.
How to find data manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify data manager roles in Michigan where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Because sponsorship is listed as a filter rather than buried in job descriptions, you avoid spending time on postings that won't lead anywhere. Migrate Mate also surfaces roles from Michigan's automotive, healthcare, and university-adjacent employers that actively hire international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for data managers pursuing sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B data manager roles are benchmarked to the Detroit and Ann Arbor metropolitan areas, which tend to reflect competitive market rates for data professionals given the concentration of large automotive and healthcare employers. University of Michigan and Michigan State University also generate a consistent pipeline of international graduates who transition into data roles locally, meaning Michigan employers have established experience navigating sponsorship for this occupation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
