Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for executive assistants?
Michigan's largest employers across automotive and healthcare are the most active sponsors. Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, Dow Chemical, Beaumont Health, and the University of Michigan have documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for administrative and operations roles. Large professional services firms with Michigan offices, including accounting and consulting practices, also sponsor executive assistants when candidates meet specialty occupation requirements.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for executive assistants in Michigan, but approval depends on the role meeting the specialty occupation standard, meaning a specific bachelor's degree in a directly related field is typically required. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Those with extraordinary ability or multinational manager experience may explore O-1 visa or L-1 visa pathways, depending on their background.
Which cities in Michigan have the most executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its metro suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Southfield, concentrate the highest volume of executive assistant sponsorship opportunities given the density of automotive headquarters and corporate offices. Ann Arbor adds demand through the University of Michigan and its affiliated research and healthcare institutions. Grand Rapids is a secondary market with growing sponsorship activity driven by healthcare systems like Corewell Health and regional corporate employers.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan, with listings filtered specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Searching within Migrate Mate for executive assistant positions in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Grand Rapids surfaces opportunities at Michigan's major automotive, healthcare, and university employers, saving significant time compared to manually screening general job postings for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there state-specific considerations for executive assistants seeking sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions are set by Department of Labor wage surveys and vary by metro area, with Detroit metro wages generally higher than those in smaller Michigan markets. The automotive industry's project-based staffing cycles can affect sponsorship timing, so candidates targeting Ford, GM, or Stellantis should expect hiring to align with fiscal planning periods. University of Michigan and Michigan State hiring follows academic calendar rhythms, with searches often opening in spring and fall.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
