Which companies in Alabama sponsor visas for executive assistants?
Birmingham-based employers in finance and healthcare, including Regions Financial, Protective Life, and UAB Health System, have historically sponsored skilled administrative roles. Huntsville's aerospace and defense sector, with contractors supporting NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal, also hires executive assistants at a senior level. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on each employer's internal HR policies and demonstrated need.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant roles in Alabama?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly used work visa for executive assistants in Alabama, though approval depends on USCIS classifying the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some candidates from Australia qualify for the E-3 visa. Canadian and Mexican nationals may explore TN visa status if their role and qualifications meet the relevant criteria. An immigration attorney can assess which category fits your specific situation.
Which cities in Alabama have the most executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Birmingham and Huntsville account for the majority of executive assistant sponsorship activity in Alabama. Birmingham's concentration of financial services, legal firms, and healthcare systems drives demand for senior administrative professionals. Huntsville's rapid growth as a technology and defense hub has expanded corporate office hiring significantly. Montgomery, as the state capital, offers opportunities within government-adjacent organizations and regional corporate offices.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Alabama?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search executive assistant roles in Alabama without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Given Alabama's industry concentration, filtering by Birmingham and Huntsville will surface the most active employers. Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have sponsored similar administrative roles, helping you prioritize your applications effectively.
Are there any Alabama-specific considerations for executive assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Alabama does not have state-level visa regulations, but employers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when filing an H-1B petition. The University of Alabama system and Auburn University occasionally hire executive assistants at the administrative professional level, and universities are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning they can file petitions outside the annual lottery. Huntsville's defense sector growth has also increased demand for senior administrative talent in the region.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in Alabama?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
