Which companies in Maryland sponsor visas for executive assistant roles?
Federal contractors and large institutions drive most executive assistant sponsorship in Maryland. Employers like Northrop Grumman, Leidos, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland have established HR infrastructure to support H-1B visa and other work visa filings. Large hospital networks and financial services firms in the Baltimore-Bethesda corridor also appear in Labor Condition Application filings for administrative and executive support roles.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant jobs in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most frequently filed visa for executive assistant roles in Maryland, though approval depends on demonstrating the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some candidates from Australia use the E-3 visa, while Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN visa status. Each category carries distinct eligibility requirements and employer obligations.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Maryland employers actively willing to sponsor executive assistant candidates. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search directly for executive assistant roles in cities like Baltimore, Bethesda, and Rockville where sponsoring employers are concentrated. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history to help prioritize applications.
Which cities in Maryland have the most executive assistant sponsorship opportunities?
Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County see strong demand for executive assistants due to the concentration of federal agencies, biotech firms, and consulting companies along the I-270 corridor. Baltimore is another active market, anchored by major health systems, universities, and financial institutions. Annapolis, as the state capital, also has administrative hiring tied to government-adjacent organizations.
Are there any Maryland-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for executive assistants?
Maryland's proximity to federal agencies and defense contractors means many executive assistant roles involve security clearance considerations, which can complicate sponsorship timelines for international candidates still on nonimmigrant visas. Employers must also meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when filing a Labor Condition Application, and wages in the Baltimore-Washington metro tend to reflect a higher cost-of-living area, which affects the prevailing wage threshold.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
