Which companies sponsor visas for executive assistants in California?
Large technology companies in the Bay Area, including Google, Apple, Meta, and Salesforce, have documented histories of sponsoring executive assistants through the H-1B program. In Los Angeles, major entertainment studios and financial services firms also sponsor for the role. Sponsorship is more common at larger employers with established immigration infrastructure than at smaller companies or startups.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant roles in California?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for executive assistant roles, though the position must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some applicants use the O-1 if they can demonstrate extraordinary achievement. Australian citizens may also qualify through the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is available year-round.
Which cities in California have the most executive assistant sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area consistently generate the highest volume of executive assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by the concentration of large technology companies. Los Angeles follows, with demand coming from entertainment, media, and financial services employers. San Diego has a smaller but active market tied to biotech and defense sector headquarters.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for executive assistant roles in California without manually screening each posting. You can narrow results by location, employer, and visa type. This is particularly useful for the California market, where sponsorship-willing employers are spread across multiple industries and cities.
Are there any California-specific considerations for executive assistant visa sponsorship?
California's strong employee protections and high cost of living mean employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are calculated based on the specific metro area. Bay Area and Los Angeles prevailing wages for administrative professionals are among the highest in the country. Employers in California also tend to use experienced immigration counsel, which can benefit sponsored employees through more thorough petition preparation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
