Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for executive assistants?
Large corporations headquartered in Chicago are the most active sponsors for executive assistant roles. Companies like United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Morningstar, and major law firms including Kirkland & Ellis and Sidley Austin have histories of H-1B sponsorship for administrative and operations professionals. Financial services firms concentrated in the Loop district also regularly hire for senior executive assistant positions requiring specialized skills.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for executive assistant roles, though it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific field must be a standard requirement. Some candidates in the Chicago market also enter through L-1B intracompany transfer visas when moving from a foreign affiliate to a U.S. office of the same employer.
Which cities in Illinois have the most executive assistant sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of executive assistant visa sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. The Loop, River North, and Fulton Market neighborhoods concentrate corporate headquarters, law firms, and financial institutions that hire at this level. Suburban areas like Deerfield, Northbrook, and Schaumburg have secondary markets driven by pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies with international operations.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse executive assistant roles in Illinois without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because Chicago has a dense corporate market, searching on Migrate Mate by Illinois location for executive assistant roles surfaces opportunities across financial services, hospitality, legal, and technology sectors that are actively open to international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for executive assistants seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-1B rules, but the Chicago market's prevailing wage expectations are set at a higher level than many other Midwest cities, reflecting the cost of operating in a major metro. Executive assistants with specialized skills in legal, financial, or C-suite support functions are better positioned for sponsorship than those in general administrative roles, as specialty occupation classification requires demonstrating a direct tie between degree field and job duties.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
