INTRODUCTION
Are you passionate about automobiles, vehicle testing, and engineering? We are looking for a Junior Torque Security Calibration Engineer to join an innovative automotive engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent engineering graduates and early-career engineers who enjoy working hands-on with vehicles and want to build a career in powertrain calibration and vehicle validation.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, test, and validate torque security calibrations for internal combustion and electric powertrain systems.
- Perform hands-on vehicle testing, troubleshooting, and calibration validation.
- Analyze engine mapping data to improve vehicle performance, emissions, fuel economy, and functional safety.
- Support vehicle reaction testing, software validation, and launch readiness activities.
- Work closely with powertrain, controls, and vehicle engineering teams to develop calibration solutions.
- Conduct functional safety validation by inducing sensor and system failures and verifying vehicle responses.
- Prepare engineering reports and communicate testing results to cross-functional teams.
- Support vehicle updates, instrumentation, and testing activities at proving grounds.
- Travel 4–6 weeks annually for validation and testing activities (including Colorado, Arizona, and Houghton, MI).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline.
- 0–3 years of engineering experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Strong passion for automotive engineering demonstrated through:
- Formula SAE (FSAE) / SAE competitions
- Automotive internships or co-ops
- Personal vehicle projects or automotive hobbies
- Automotive clubs or extracurricular activities
- Strong interest in vehicle controls, powertrain systems, and automotive testing.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel and support occasional weekend or extended-hour testing activities.
