Which companies sponsor visas for product owners in Michigan?
General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, and Rocket Companies are among the most active H-1B sponsors for product-related roles in Michigan. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Henry Ford Health also sponsor product owners in the healthtech space. Automotive software suppliers such as Aptiv and Bosch have Michigan offices with documented sponsorship histories for product management positions.
Which visa types are most common for product owner roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product owners in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or O-1 visas may also find product owner roles accessible. Some multinational employers use L-1A if the position carries managerial scope.
Which cities in Michigan have the most product owner sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its immediate suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Southfield, account for the largest share of product owner sponsorship opportunities, driven by the automotive technology sector. Ann Arbor is a strong secondary market, anchored by the University of Michigan's tech ecosystem and a growing startup scene. Grand Rapids has a smaller but active healthtech and manufacturing software cluster worth monitoring.
How to find product owner visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search product owner roles in Michigan without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can narrow results by city, filtering for Detroit, Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids depending on your preference. Because Michigan's sponsoring employers skew heavily toward automotive technology and healthcare IT, those industry filters are worth using on Migrate Mate to surface the most relevant openings.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for product owners seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B product owner roles are benchmarked to Detroit-area and Ann Arbor-area labor market data, which tends to be competitive given the concentration of large automotive and technology employers. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University generate a steady pipeline of international graduates who transition into product roles through OPT and then seek H-1B sponsorship. Employers familiar with this pipeline, particularly those in Ann Arbor, are often more experienced with the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product owner jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
