Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for program development managers?
Michigan employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories in program management and development roles include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Henry Ford Health, and Beaumont Health. Large nonprofit organizations and federally funded research institutions in the state also regularly sponsor work visas for program development managers, particularly when filling specialized roles that align with organizational strategy.
Which visa types are most common for program development manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program development managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business administration, public policy, or a related discipline. Some candidates at universities or research institutions may qualify under J-1 or O-1 categories depending on their background. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before petitioning USCIS.
Which cities in Michigan have the most program development manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn, Southfield, and Troy, account for the largest concentration of program development manager roles in Michigan given the density of automotive, healthcare, and corporate headquarters there. Ann Arbor is a strong secondary market, driven by the University of Michigan and its affiliated health system. Grand Rapids also has growing demand, particularly across healthcare networks and nonprofit organizations operating in West Michigan.
How to find program development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for program development manager roles in Michigan to see verified sponsorship opportunities. This is more efficient than broad searches because the platform focuses exclusively on employers who have sponsored or are open to sponsoring work visas, reducing time spent on roles unlikely to lead to an offer for international applicants.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for program development managers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Michigan's concentration of automotive and manufacturing employers means that program development manager roles here often require experience in product lifecycle management, operations, or industry-specific program structures. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University pipelines also create demand for program managers in research administration and sponsored programs offices, which are familiar with H-1B processes. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide, and employers must meet Department of Labor standards for the geographic area where work is performed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program development manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
