Which companies sponsor visas for strategy roles in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for strategy roles include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Dow Chemical, which regularly file H-1B petitions for corporate strategy and planning positions. Management consulting firms with Detroit-area offices, including Deloitte, PwC, and McKinsey, also sponsor strategy professionals. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University occasionally sponsor strategy-adjacent roles within their administrative and research functions.
Which visa types are most common for strategy roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy professionals in Michigan, as business strategy and corporate planning roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, or finance. The L-1A is also relevant for senior strategists transferring from a foreign affiliate to a Michigan employer. TN visas cover Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain business analyst and management consultant classifications.
Which cities in Michigan have the most strategy sponsorship jobs?
Metro Detroit, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Troy, concentrates the largest share of strategy sponsorship activity given the headquarters presence of the major automakers and their supplier networks. Ann Arbor has a secondary cluster driven by the University of Michigan, tech-adjacent startups, and life sciences firms. Grand Rapids is a smaller but growing market for strategy roles, particularly in healthcare and consumer goods sectors.
How to find strategy visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find strategy visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan, as the platform filters specifically for employers who are actively sponsoring work visas. Search for titles such as corporate strategy manager, business strategy analyst, and strategic planning director filtered to Michigan. Focusing on Detroit-area automotive firms, professional services offices, and Ann Arbor-based technology companies gives the strongest results for H-1B-eligible strategy roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for strategy visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's economy is heavily tied to automotive manufacturing, so strategy roles at Ford, GM, and Stellantis often require domain knowledge in supply chain, product planning, or manufacturing operations, which can shape how employers define the specialty occupation for H-1B purposes. The state has a strong university pipeline from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and Michigan State's Broad College, meaning OPT-to-H-1B transitions are a common hiring pathway for strategy professionals at Michigan employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
