Which companies sponsor visas for development managers in Minnesota?
The most active sponsors for development manager roles in Minnesota tend to be large enterprises in healthcare IT, retail technology, and financial services. UnitedHealth Group, Optum, Target, Best Buy, Medtronic, and U.S. Bank have histories of filing H-1B petitions for management-level technology positions. Mid-sized software firms in the Twin Cities metro also sponsor, though less frequently than these established employers with dedicated immigration support infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for development manager roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for development managers in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical or business field. Candidates already authorized under L-1A (intracompany transferee, managerial capacity) or those with an approved I-140 petition may also pursue development manager positions without entering the H-1B lottery.
How to find development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it practical to search for development manager roles in Minnesota without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. You can narrow results by state and role type, then focus outreach on employers who have demonstrably sponsored similar positions before, which is especially useful in Minnesota's competitive Twin Cities tech market.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most development manager sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul account for the substantial majority of development manager sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, and Bloomington, all within the broader Twin Cities metro, also host major corporate headquarters and technology campuses. Rochester has a smaller but notable presence driven by Mayo Clinic's technology and digital health divisions, which periodically sponsor management-level roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for development managers pursuing sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's concentration in healthcare IT and medical devices means development managers often need domain experience aligned with those industries, not just general software development backgrounds, since employers can be selective at the management level. The University of Minnesota and local graduate programs supply a strong domestic pipeline, so international candidates tend to stand out when they bring specialized technical leadership experience that complements rather than directly competes with that local talent pool.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development manager jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
