Search Manufacturing Jobs in MinnesotaManufacturing H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
Which manufacturing companies sponsor H-1B visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota's largest H-1B visa manufacturing sponsors include Medtronic, 3M, Boston Scientific, Cargill, Donaldson, and Graco, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. These companies file petitions primarily for engineering, research and development, and technical operations roles. Medical device manufacturers represent a particularly active segment, given Minnesota's concentration of that industry around the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most manufacturing H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area accounts for the majority of Minnesota's H-1B manufacturing filings, driven by the concentration of corporate headquarters and R&D facilities there. Rochester is a secondary hub, particularly for medical device and precision manufacturing roles. Smaller industrial centers like St. Cloud, Mankato, and Faribault also have manufacturing employers, though H-1B sponsorship activity is less frequent outside the metro.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Minnesota?
H-1B sponsorship in manufacturing is generally reserved for specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Minnesota, this commonly includes mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineers, manufacturing process engineers, quality assurance engineers, materials scientists, and supply chain analysts with quantitative degrees. Production supervisor and general operations roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B classification.
How do I find manufacturing H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface Minnesota manufacturing employers who have a demonstrated history of H-1B sponsorship. This is more efficient than broad job searches because results are matched to your visa situation. Start by browsing the Minnesota manufacturing H-1B listings on Migrate Mate and setting up alerts for new postings from active sponsors in the sector.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in manufacturing?
Minnesota's medical device cluster creates a higher-than-average concentration of H-1B filings in manufacturing relative to many other states, particularly for biomedical and mechanical engineering roles. The state also has a significant food and agricultural processing industry through companies like Cargill, General Mills, and Land O'Lakes, though H-1B sponsorship in that segment is narrower and concentrated in technical and scientific roles rather than production operations.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B manufacturing jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
