Our providers are required to stay up to date with the latest evidence-based medicine and provide comprehensive care for a medically complex, diverse patient population. Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Minnesota
Target the Twin Cities employment core
Minneapolis-Saint Paul holds the overwhelming majority of Minnesota's H-1B sponsors. Focus your search on employers headquartered or with major operations in Hennepin and Ramsey counties before expanding to secondary markets like Rochester or Bloomington.
Research Minnesota's top H-1B filing employers directly
USCIS H-1B employer data and DOL LCA disclosure records are publicly searchable. Look up annual filings for Minnesota-based employers to confirm which companies actively petition, how frequently, and in which occupational categories before applying.
Prioritize healthcare and medical technology roles
Minnesota has an unusually dense cluster of healthcare and medtech employers. Companies like UnitedHealth Group, Medtronic, and Boston Scientific file significant H-1B volumes, making specialty occupations in health IT, biomedical engineering, and clinical data strong targets.
Use Migrate Mate to filter by H-1B sponsorship
Generic job boards don't filter for visa sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate lets you search Minnesota roles specifically listed with H-1B sponsorship, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening employers who won't consider international candidates.
Engage with Minnesota's professional associations
Organizations like the Minnesota Technology Association and local IEEE chapters connect international professionals with employers who regularly sponsor. Networking at their events can surface H-1B-friendly opportunities before they're publicly posted.
Check cap-exempt institutions in Minnesota's research corridor
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and affiliated hospitals are cap-exempt H-1B sponsors, meaning they can file year-round without lottery risk. The University of Minnesota system and Mayo Clinic qualify, making academic and research roles strategically valuable.

Which industries in Minnesota sponsor the most H-1B visas?
Healthcare and health insurance, medical devices, information technology, and financial services account for the largest share of H-1B visa filings in Minnesota. Employers like UnitedHealth Group, Medtronic, and 3M drive consistent volume. Manufacturing conglomerates and professional services firms also contribute meaningfully to the state's overall sponsorship activity.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area contains the vast majority of Minnesota's H-1B sponsoring employers, particularly in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie. Rochester is a secondary hub due to Mayo Clinic's presence. Outside these areas, H-1B sponsorship opportunities are significantly less concentrated.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Minnesota?
Roles that qualify require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. In Minnesota, this commonly includes software engineers, data scientists, biomedical engineers, health informatics specialists, financial analysts, and clinical researchers. Generalist roles or positions where any degree field is acceptable are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Start with Migrate Mate, which lists Minnesota roles from employers open to H-1B sponsorship, so you're not sorting through postings that exclude international candidates. Supplement that by searching DOL LCA disclosure data to identify which Minnesota employers have recent H-1B filings, then apply directly to those companies with a focused outreach strategy.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
