Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota's largest healthcare employers are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors in the state. Mayo Clinic in Rochester has a long history of sponsoring international physicians and researchers. M Health Fairview, Allina Health, HealthPartners, and Essentia Health also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for healthcare petitions. Smaller specialty clinics and academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Minnesota are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Twin Cities metro, covering Minneapolis and Saint Paul, accounts for the largest share of healthcare H-1B activity in Minnesota due to the concentration of hospital systems and specialty clinics. Rochester is the second most significant city, driven almost entirely by Mayo Clinic and its affiliated research and clinical operations. Duluth also has a notable presence through Essentia Health and St. Luke's.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that require at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a specific specialty field qualify as H-1B specialty occupations. In healthcare, this includes physicians, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical researchers, and certain advanced practice nurses. Roles like general home health aides or medical assistants that do not require a specific four-year degree typically do not qualify.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota by employer, role type, and location. Rather than sorting through general job postings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with verified H-1B sponsorship histories, saving time during a search that often has tight visa deadlines.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B healthcare workers in Minnesota?
Healthcare professionals working in Minnesota must meet state licensure requirements independently of their H-1B approval. For example, physicians need a Minnesota medical license from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, and nurses must be licensed through the Minnesota Board of Nursing. H-1B approval does not substitute for state licensure, and some employers will not begin sponsorship until licensure is confirmed or in progress.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
