Which transportation companies sponsor H-1B visas in Minnesota?
C.H. Robinson, one of the world's largest third-party logistics providers headquartered in Eden Prairie, has a consistent history of H-1B filings for transportation and logistics roles. Other active sponsors in Minnesota include UPS, FedEx, and freight technology firms based in the Twin Cities. Government-adjacent employers like the Minnesota Department of Transportation also contract with firms that sponsor H-1B workers for engineering positions.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area accounts for the large majority of H-1B sponsorship activity in Minnesota's transportation sector. Eden Prairie, home to C.H. Robinson's global headquarters, is a particular concentration point for logistics technology and supply chain roles. Bloomington and Saint Paul also have notable transportation employer presence. Duluth, as a major Great Lakes port city, has some activity in freight and maritime logistics.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In transportation, qualifying roles typically include logistics engineers, supply chain analysts, transportation systems analysts, operations research analysts, and software developers working on freight or fleet management platforms. Roles like truck drivers or warehouse workers generally do not meet the specialty occupation standard and would not support an H-1B petition.
How do I find transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship and filters job listings by visa type and industry. You can search for transportation and logistics roles in Minnesota directly on Migrate Mate, where listings are tagged by sponsorship availability. This saves significant time compared to manually researching which employers have filed H-1B petitions for transportation positions in the state.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in transportation?
Minnesota's transportation sector is heavily shaped by its role as a major freight corridor, particularly for rail, trucking, and intermodal logistics connecting the Midwest to both coasts. Employers in this space often require familiarity with cold-weather infrastructure operations. Because many H-1B-eligible transportation roles here are in logistics technology rather than physical infrastructure, candidates with backgrounds in supply chain systems or data analytics tend to see more sponsoring employers than those in civil or transit engineering.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B transportation jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
