Which food & beverage companies sponsor H-1B visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota is home to several major food and beverage companies with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories. General Mills and Cargill, both headquartered in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro, have filed H-1B petitions for roles in food science, engineering, and supply chain. Land O'Lakes and Hormel Foods are additional large employers in the state with established international hiring programs. Sponsorship decisions are made on a role-by-role basis and are never guaranteed.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most food & beverage H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area accounts for the large majority of food and beverage H-1B sponsorship activity in Minnesota, given the concentration of corporate headquarters and research facilities there. Austin, Minnesota, is notable as the home of Hormel Foods. Smaller manufacturing hubs across the state may have production-side openings, but corporate and technical roles with H-1B sponsorship tend to cluster in the Twin Cities region.
What types of food & beverage roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in food and beverage is most common for specialty occupation roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Food scientists, research and development chemists, process engineers, supply chain analysts, and data scientists within food manufacturing companies are among the positions that frequently meet that standard. General production, warehouse, or hourly manufacturing roles do not typically qualify, as they generally do not require a specialized degree.
How do I find food & beverage H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international professionals seeking H-1B visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter directly by state and industry to browse food and beverage H-1B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota, identifying employers with active openings and sponsorship programs. This is more targeted than general job searches because listings are curated for candidates who need employer-sponsored work authorization.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for food & beverage H-1B sponsorship?
Minnesota's food and beverage sector is heavily oriented toward agricultural processing and packaged goods manufacturing, which shapes the types of H-1B roles available. Many positions are tied to corporate R&D or headquarters functions rather than plant-floor work, meaning candidates typically need advanced technical credentials. The state does not have separate immigration rules beyond federal H-1B requirements, but the prevailing wage determinations filed with the Department of Labor will reflect Minneapolis-Saint Paul or regional wage levels depending on the work location.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B food & beverage jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
