Which companies sponsor visas for nursing assistants in Minnesota?
Mayo Clinic in Rochester is among the most well-known Minnesota employers with a history of sponsoring foreign workers in healthcare roles. Larger health systems such as M Health Fairview, Allina Health, and HealthPartners have also filed sponsored positions in nursing and patient care. Long-term care operators and staffing agencies serving Minnesota hospitals are additional sources worth exploring, as demand for certified nursing assistants remains high statewide.
Which visa types are most common for nursing assistant roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B visa is generally not available for nursing assistant roles because the position does not typically meet the specialty occupation requirement of a minimum bachelor's degree in a specific field. EB-3 immigrant visas are the most common pathway for nursing assistants, allowing employers to sponsor workers for permanent residence through the PERM labor certification process. Some facilities also use the H-2B visa for temporary, non-agricultural positions when they can demonstrate a shortage of available U.S. workers.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most nursing assistant sponsorship jobs?
Rochester leads due to Mayo Clinic's large healthcare campus and ongoing workforce needs. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area, home to Allina Health, M Health Fairview, and HealthPartners, generates a significant share of nursing assistant openings. Duluth, anchored by Essentia Health and St. Luke's, is another consistent market. Smaller cities like St. Cloud and Mankato also see demand driven by regional hospital networks and nursing home facilities serving Minnesota's rural counties.
How to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify Minnesota employers actively open to sponsoring nursing assistants rather than sorting through general postings. Because not every facility advertises sponsorship availability upfront, Migrate Mate's focus on sponsored roles saves time for international candidates. Searching by Minnesota and nursing assistant on Migrate Mate surfaces both hospital-based and long-term care opportunities where employers have a documented history of supporting foreign workers.
Are there any state-specific considerations for nursing assistants seeking sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota requires nursing assistants to hold a valid Nursing Assistant certification, which means passing a state-approved training program and competency evaluation before working independently. International candidates should verify their credentials are recognized before starting a sponsorship process, as employers will expect certification to be in place or obtainable quickly. Minnesota's Department of Health maintains the Nursing Assistant Registry. The state's strong union presence in larger health systems can also affect hiring timelines and employment terms in sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing assistant jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
