Which companies sponsor visas for nursing assistants in Virginia?
Inova Health System in Northern Virginia, Sentara Healthcare across Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach, and VCU Health in Richmond are among the larger health systems in the state with histories of sponsoring foreign workers in direct care roles. Long-term care facilities and nursing home chains operating in Virginia have also pursued EB-3 sponsorship for certified nursing assistants, particularly when facing persistent staffing shortages.
Which visa types are most common for nursing assistant roles in Virginia?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for nursing assistants in Virginia. It covers unskilled and semi-skilled workers, including CNAs, and requires employer sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Some facilities also use H-2B visas for temporary or seasonal positions, though this category has strict caps and is less common in healthcare settings than EB-3 sponsorship.
Which cities in Virginia have the most nursing assistant sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Fairfax County and Arlington, has the highest concentration of healthcare employers given its proximity to Washington, D.C. and a large population base. Richmond, as home to VCU Health and several long-term care networks, is another active market. Hampton Roads, covering Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake, also sees consistent demand driven by Sentara Healthcare and regional hospital systems.
How to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated job board for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter specifically for nursing assistant roles in Virginia to see employers who have indicated sponsorship availability. Because sponsorship for CNA roles is often handled through EB-3 and takes time to arrange, Migrate Mate helps you identify which Virginia employers are actively open to sponsoring international hires.
Are there any state-specific considerations for nursing assistants seeking sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia requires nursing assistants to hold a current CNA certification listed on the Virginia Nurse Aide Registry, administered by the Virginia Board of Nursing. International candidates pursuing EB-3 sponsorship will need to ensure their credentials are recognized in Virginia before or alongside the petition process. Virginia's high cost of living in Northern Virginia affects prevailing wage requirements, which employers must meet under the PERM labor certification process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing assistant jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
