Which companies sponsor visas for nursing assistants in Mississippi?
The most active sponsors in Mississippi include large hospital systems such as Baptist Memorial Health Care, Merit Health, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center, as well as long-term care chains operating nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities statewide. Staffing agencies contracted with these facilities have also filed sponsorship petitions historically. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, role volume, and workforce shortages at any given time.
Which visa types are most common for nursing assistant roles in Mississippi?
Nursing assistants in Mississippi most commonly come through the EB-3 immigrant visa category, which covers skilled and unskilled workers and is frequently used by healthcare employers experiencing sustained staffing shortages. Some candidates also enter on H-2B visa temporary worker visas through staffing arrangements. The EB-3 route typically requires employer sponsorship, PERM labor certification, and a priority date that can involve a multi-year wait depending on the applicant's country of birth.
Which cities in Mississippi have the most nursing assistant sponsorship jobs?
Jackson has the highest concentration of nursing assistant sponsorship activity, driven by the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the cluster of hospital and long-term care facilities in the metro area. Gulfport and Biloxi on the Gulf Coast also show consistent demand, particularly in rehabilitation and skilled nursing settings. Hattiesburg, as home to Forrest General Hospital, represents another active market for internationally sponsored CNA placements.
How to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Mississippi?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States, including nursing assistant roles in Mississippi. You can filter directly by state and job category to see which Mississippi employers are actively hiring CNAs with sponsorship. This is more efficient than searching general job boards, which rarely distinguish between sponsorship-willing and sponsorship-unwilling employers.
Are there any state-specific requirements or considerations for internationally sponsored nursing assistants in Mississippi?
Mississippi requires nursing assistants to be listed on the Mississippi Nurse Aide Registry, which means passing a state-approved competency evaluation covering both written and clinical skills. International candidates must ensure their credentials and training meet Mississippi State Department of Health standards before beginning work. Employers sponsoring foreign nationals for CNA roles must also comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements under the relevant visa category, which are benchmarked to local wage data for nursing assistant occupations in Mississippi.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing assistant jobs in Mississippi?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
